I ruptured my achilles and had the repair surgery. 13 days later my wound opened up. Initially the cultures grew 3 types of bacteria. I had a three-week antibiotic regimen. After two surgeries for debridement and covering of the wound with Integra the tendon was no longer visible, but the wound wouldn't close. I'm not diabetic nor do I smoke. The skin graft failed. The doctor just ordered an MRI wondering if there's a deep pocket of infection with possible exploratory surgery.
I think I may have a poisonous spider bite on my finger. It is rock hard but slowly oozing sticky pus. It's very, very painful if touched, and I'm experiencing waves of burning, stinging pain that comes and goes. I've been soaking the finger in very hot water. What should I do?
I have a good plastic/wound surgeon but even after 40 Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments he tells me that I will have to have another surgery after so many since my admission to the first hospital on October 14, 2014. He has just almost given up hope and he doesn't know what to do now. My first 4 consecutive hospital visits covered 5 months and since then I have daily care, treatments, hospitalizations and surgeries. I really don't want more surgeries! I need another option.
My mother has varicose issue and she's sixty years old.The thing is recently she started getting wounds and when one wound heals after so long time another one appears. Is there a way to prevent new wounds?
