I have got a wound on thumb which has pus discharge, little swelling and pain that transfers upto the elbow. Kindly help with some treatment measures

I have a wound on the top of my thumb near the nail due to a small unknown cut which has pus discharge. Resulting from the wound I have a little swelling and pain that transfers up to my elbow. I can't figure it out what exactly it is. Moreover I am diabetic too. kindly tell me some treatment measures.

Sounds like you have a paronychia, which is an infection on the side of the nail bed. Treatments is incision and draining of the abscess to remove pus and antibiotics. I would recommend that you see a wound specialist who can drain the pus and send out a culture and start you on antibiotics.
