Biatain Foam
Biatain foam is a soft, pliable dressing which is comprised of an outer layer that helps guard against bacteria and infection, and an inner foam layer that assists with absorbing fluids (exudates) during the healing process.
The structure of Biatain foam allows for ease of use in a variety of wounds including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and non-infected diabetic foot ulcers, as well as postoperative wounds, skin abrasions and second-degree burns. The dressing “locks” in the secretions while still allowing for a moist atmosphere, which aids in the healing process. Biatain foam dressings are used in wounds with low-to-high exudates levels.
Copa Foam
Copa foam (Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressing) is a soft, flexible wound dressing that contains polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), a bacteria-killing agent. The PHMB binds to the bacteria’s outer membrane and breaks down the bacterial cell, causing the bacteria to die, creating a more sterile environment to promote healing.
Seasorb Soft Alginate
Alginate dressings are derived from seaweed and maintain a moist environment which helps promote healing. SeaSorb Soft Alginate dressings are made from a combination of alginate fibers and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) which promote absorbtion and allow for easy, pain-free removal.
This type of dressing is used in cases of moderate-to-high levels of wound exudates. SeaSorb Soft Alginate Filler is used in moderate-to-high levels of wound exudates within deep cavity wounds.
Hypafix Tape
Hypafix is an adhesive tape or adhesive sheet that is used for securing and covering wound dressings. It is highly conformable, allowing for use in difficult areas, such as joints and around catheters and drainage tubes, and where proper placement is essential.
Tegaderm Roll
Tegaderm is a clear, thin film adhesive tape used for securing and covering wound dressings with a waterproof, bacterial and viral barrier while allowing for free movement without additional stress on the skin.
It can be used in difficult areas, such as joints and around catheters and drainage tubes, and where protection of the skin from friction or other bodily fluids is necessary.
Kerlix
One of the most recognized dressings in wound care is Kerlix. Kerlix rolls are made of a crinkle-patterned woven gauze, prewashed and fluff dried, which when layered create “loft and bulk” for cushioning a wound site. Kerlix rolls are specifically designed to provide a fast-wicking (pulling exudate away from the wound), airy and absorbent layer over a wound.
Profore
Profore is a wound care compression system with multiple layers, each providing specific benefits for aiding in the wound healing process. The first layer goes directly on the wound with subsequent layers providing padding, dressing, light compression and finally, a flexible bandage on top. The compression system has an extended wear time, allowing for up to a full week’s use without the need for reapplication (except for when drainage is high.)
