What is the diagnosis of Osteomyelitis?

On the left foot is a wound that converted into osteomyelitis. The patient was also suffering no sensation of pain in left foot. The patient was operated on for diastemetomylia, and now the sensation power is better, but the wound on the foot (osteomyelitis) is not healing. I am waiting for your best advice.

Osteomyelitis, by definition, is an infection in the bone. It is often diagnosed clinically and then confirmed with imaging (X-Ray, MRI, CT) or biopsy. It is very difficult to treat, especially in the foot. At a baseline, infectious disease doctors usually recommend a course of antibiotics over a period of time. It is important to ensure you're getting the maximum amount of blood flow possible to the area which is confirmed with a combination of physical exam and often by diagnostic vascular exam called an Ankle Brachial Index. Some wound care centers recommend hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help maximize oxygen delivery to the affected area. Regardless, these wounds often require operative debridement or even amputation in the long term. Best to visit your podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon for further recommendations.
