The wound vac dressings need to be changed if therapy is stopped for more than 2 hours. When the wound vac is not operating and is on a wound, this causes an enclosed and warm environment that is not breathable and very suitable for bacterial growth. I would recommend the vac dressings be removed, the wound cleaned thoroughly, the dressings replaced and wound vac turned back on.
