Laceration treatment?

A day ago I had an accident and was injured slightly. There was a tear through my sock and a wound underneath. According to medical terms it is a Laceration. I cleaned the area with antiseptic and washed it. Then I applied Hydroheal ( Hydrogel Wound Dressing with Colloidal Silver) and covered it with a sticky gauge, then normal gauge and then finally a crepe bandage. I did this because similar treatment was done before too when I had a similar wound in the hospital. Is covering okay?

Wounds are meant to be kept moist. This allows excess moisture to be wicked away so that maceration of the surrounding tissue does not occur. Maceration is the whitish appearance of tissue that has been water-logged. You also want to make sure that your Tetanus is up to date. If more than 5 years since your last injection, then it is a good idea to get another booster. You also want to make sure there is no infection or that the wound is not becoming infected. Signs to look out for would be increased redness, pus, red streaks traveling away from the wound, fever, increasing pain at the site of the wound. My advice is to have a wound specialist take a look to make sure the wound is healing well. If it has been more than 30 days, then hyperbarics may be needed.

I have an open wound on my knee, and one on my ankle from falling off my motorbike (not too fast). The wound was not dressed for the first two days and became swollen and green. I went to the hospital, where it was cleaned and dressed. I have been cleaning it at home with betadine and putting tetracyclin gel on, keeping it dressed while outside and uncovered at home. I am concerned that one of the wounds is still about 40% covered in semi-hard green gunk. How should I best help this to decrease?

I have a good plastic/wound surgeon but even after 40 Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments he tells me that I will have to have another surgery after so many since my admission to the first hospital on October 14, 2014. He has just almost given up hope and he doesn't know what to do now. My first 4 consecutive hospital visits covered 5 months and since then I have daily care, treatments, hospitalizations and surgeries. I really don't want more surgeries! I need another option.

My Mom has a long time wound on her leg from radiation treatments for cancer. The wound was being treated with an experimental plasma laser, and it was healing. The laser treatment was done by a doctor in Russia. The laser broke, and in the meantime an American company purchased the patent rights. Apparently the laser cannot be repaired AND the American company that purchased the patent is stuck in the approval process. After a year of waiting the wound has deteriorated. What should we do?
